I was born and raised in central Illinois in a small town called Ashland. I grew up watching NewsChannel 20 and FOX Illinois and was fascinated with the local and national news the anchors and reporters presented every day.
I attended Illinois College, a liberal arts school located in Jacksonville, Illinois (go blue boys!).
I got the opportunity to intern for a radio station called WLDS/WEAI in Jacksonville during my time at IC. I loved reporting on local coverage of the west central Illinois area.
I graduated from Illinois College with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Rhetorical Studies. I would later attend UIS for the Public Affairs Reporting Program to earn my master’s degree. I also interned for NewsChannel 20 where I had the wonderful opportunity to learn from all of the experienced reporters and staff.
I specifically got to cover Illinois government, where 2019 was a monumental year of a new administration and policy -recreational marijuana, minimum wage increase, sports gaming, the Reproductive Health Act, sexual harassment, etc.
When I’m not reporting, I love spending time with my family, getting to know Champaign more, and hanging out with my pet rabbit Bessie!
