SELINA GUEVARA

A California native, Selina Guevara is no stranger to being far from home. She went to college at Elon University in North Carolina and has lived in Costa Rica, Colombia and Spain.

When Selina started at Elon, she planned on being a pre-med major and likes to say she got into local news by accident. The first day of freshman year, she wanted to try something completely new and joined Elon Local News, her college’s TV news organization — and was on the air within a week.

She’s been a lifelong lover of learning, and her favorite part of journalism is that you get to learn about something new every day.

Selina has worked for local news stations along the central coast of California and Charlotte, NC, as well as on the investigative team at ABC11 in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina. She graduated with a major in journalism and minors in Spanish and public health.

In her spare time, Selina loves hiking, kayaking or just about anything outside. She loves to learn about new places to explore in the area! She’s never experienced a real winter before — and appreciates any advice on surviving the cold.
