News Philosophy:
To me, journalism is about understanding and change. We accomplish that by holding the powerful accountable, giving ordinary people a platform to voice their concerns and pressing for answers when roadblocked with silence.

Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications, 2013, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, 2013, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania
Birthplace:
Philadelphia, Pa.

In 2016, I finished my first marathon (26.2 miles) in Virginia Beach, Va.
I am currently training for the Philadelphia Marathon on Nov. 18, 2018.
Send any restaurant recommendations my way! I love finding hidden gems around town.
I am a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors.
Family and pets:
Future father of a Goldendoodle, Australian Shephard or Husky.
My dad, mom, two brothers and sister live outside Philadelphia, Pa.
Favorite websites, books, podcasts:
I’m a big NPR fan. It’s #1 on my radio presets in the car. I listen to the “Up First” podcast every morning.
I also enjoy listening to covers on YouTube by unknown artists. I’d like to be a judge on The Voice or American Idol!
When I am not covering the news, I am likely watching/reading/analyzing the news.
Like best about NC:
Living near the beach and the mountains surrounded by such welcoming people!
Most memorable assignments:
Pope Francis’ visit to Washington, D.C. and covering many hurricanes and strong storms along the Virginia and North Carolina coasts.
In 2018, my investigation into the poor conditions at an apartment complex led to more than 50 code violations, immediate changes and new management.
In 2015, I covered the high-profile missing persons case of Anjelica Hadsell. The 18-year-old college student and star athlete disappeared while home on spring break. A month later, investigators found her body abandoned behind a rural home about an hour away. Three years later, no one has been charged in connection with the teen’s death.
I also enjoy highlighting people making a difference in the community.
