For Jeanna Trotman, sports broadcast journalism has always been her dream career.
As a child, Jeanna’s parents say her first spoken words were “pull the goalie” during a Red Wings Stanley Cup run in the early 1990’s. She was the only girl in her family and grew up with sports her entire life, either as an athlete or fan.
In joining NBC25/FOX 66, Jeanna is returning to her home state of Michigan for the first time in nearly five years. The Metro-Detroit native graduated from Lake Superior State University as an honor student and NCAA athlete. She played collegiate volleyball for the Lakers while completing degrees in Communication, Professional Speaking, and Public Relations.
From LSSU, she moved to the East Coast to pursue her Masters Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a specialization in Sports Reporting at Boston University.
Upon graduation, Jeanna moved back to the Midwest to serve as the Sports Director at KAAL-TV in Rochester, Minnesota. In two and a half years with ABC 6 News, Jeanna thoroughly enjoyed her time covering everything from high school to professional sports. However, above all, Jeanna cherished telling stories and making relationships with the people in her community.
Prior to starting at NBC25/FOX 66, Jeanna married her long-time boyfriend Zach Trotman, who is an NHL defenseman for the Pittsburgh Penguins. In their spare time, they enjoy remaining active and spending time with their friends and family. They also have two dogs, Payton, who is a rescue dog they adopted from Mississippi, and Murphy, who is a German Shepard.
